Trashy Friday: Eye Candy and The Slap

Welcome to another exciting edition of Trashy Friday!! Today we will be reviewing MTV’s “Eye Candy” and NBC’s “The Slap”. Let’s sink our teeth in the trashy fun!!

Eye Candy

Again this week we are given an episode where the creepy stalker’s existence lasts 5 to 10 minutes AT MOST!!!! (I don’t like this, he was the point and star of this show, why cut him out) Instead we get another cyber crimes investigation show… ugh, again I don’t care!!!! This time, Jake’s(now Lindy’s boyfriend????, which the creepy stalker doesn’t like to see) friend, needs help because he was framed for a murder or something and was covered with whip marks after he stayed in this sketchy apartment. Lindy decides that she can help investigate and clear him of the murder. With the investigating they discover that if you stay in one of these apartments, you are video taped and the footage is uploaded on the internet. (Which people can pay to see.) Lindy somehow stays at one of the apartments and notices that she has been “purchased”. So she decides that she must stay there overnight so the police can catch the weird dude doing things to people. Tommy decides to stay the night with Lindy and Jake has to just watch. (This can’t be good…) When they get to the apartment the police are watching and there is wine to welcome them. After Tommy is given advice to “lighten up” by the cop that Sofia is into, he kisses Lindy rather passionately. (I really think he likes her… And poor Jake has to just watch.. But Jake looks so cute in his suit, so that helps) After Lindy decides its bed time and something happens where the video is altered so the creepy guy can do his thing. (Lindy’s work friend alerts to the cops that they are in trouble.) Lindy ends up being taken to a dark room where it looks like she is gonna be tortured or something. Jake enters the room to only find Tommy, and you can feel some tension between them. The episode ends with Tommy catching the guy before anything bad happens to Lindy and they interview him. It is revealed that a mysterious person (the creepy stalker who is supposed to be the star of this show…) hired him to scare Lindy.

I really like this series but every trailer keeps hinting to me that the creepy stalker is coming back and that hasn’t happened in three episodes. They only hint at the things he does and I really don’t like it. But this series is still pretty enjoyable to watch.

The Slap

Again this series pretty much went in a totally different direction than the show was originally about… So you’d think because of the title, that this show would mostly be about the slap that shook a household, right? Nope, they only touched the actual slap for 5 minutes at most. I don’t understand why a show has a premise and then they add other irrelevant stuff in it. This show follows Anouk, one of Hector’s friends She is an actress on a soap opera and she is sleeping with a coworker. Which they had to show maybe eight minutes into the show, because after the whole fiasco having sex solves everything. Anouk seems to hate kids and relationships, so her perception on the slap is a little different from everyone else. (In fact she is quite mean to the Hugo’s mother. But in my mind she deserves it.) Anyway in this episode we find out that she gets pregnant, she visits her mother and that her mother is moving away because she will be dying soon, and that her boyfriend, after finding out she’s pregnant, offers to marry her. This woman has to have the worst pregnant woman’s mood swings ever!! In the course of 4 days she gets mad at her mother, lashes out at her boyfriend and breaks up with him for a day, and decides that she needs an abortion. She just gets super emotional and Hector’s wife and her mother are just really supportive. In the end she goes back to her boyfriend and that’s pretty much it. We seriously got a pointless show on a side character. I really didn’t like it at all, but next time they will be covering legal aspects of the slap so it gets better?
