Quick Beauty Tips

Here are some quick tips and fixes for your makeup!

1.     Gel eyeliners are great but the product can dry out really fast, even when you keep the jar well sealed.  If you go to use your liner and find that it has already dried out to the point where it’s just crumbling, you can take the lid off and stick it in the microwave for less than 5 seconds.  Try 2-3 seconds and see if the liner has softened enough for use.  This generally revitalizes the product enough for a few uses, then you can stick it back in the microwave next time it’s dry!

2.     Some pencil liners can be pretty dry as well, though those are generally dry from the beginning.  I like to get really inexpensive pencil liners when I want a fun color I know I won’t use often at all, and most of the time they are so dry it’s a struggle to apply them.  In this case, you can put your hairdryer on a medium to high heat setting and blast the tip of your pencil liner for just a few seconds, until it becomes creamy.  (You don’t want to completely liquefy it, so be careful!)

3.     While we’re on the subject of the hairdryer, this is also a great tool for curling your lashes!  Blast your eyelash curler under high heat with the hairdryer until it’s warm, then use right away.  It’s like a curling iron for your lashes!  (Just make sure it doesn’t get too hot, or wait a bit before putting the curler near your eye.)

4.     A lot of lipsticks, especially in bright or rich colors, can fade and wear off quickly.  To help prolong wear when you’re not eating or drinking, apply the lipstick then place a thin piece of tissue gently on your lips.  Use a big fluffy brush to dust a translucent powder (or any everyday setting powder) over the tissue on your lips.  The powder sets lipstick just like foundation (but the tissue prevents the powder from altering the lipstick color, and prevents the lipstick from getting on your powder brush!) to help your color last much longer.

5.     Putting just a small drop of water in your eyeshadow or using a slightly damp shadow brush helps intensify the color of your shadow.  (If you add the small amount of water right to the shadow, it will dry and go back to normal quickly.)
